THAI BUSINESS MOGUL BUYS MISS UNIVERSE ORGANIZATION FOR $20M
Thai-owned media and content conglomerate, JKN Global Group Pcl, announced the acquisition of the Miss Universe Organization from IMG early this morning. Anne Jakrajutatip, CEO and biggest shareholder of JKN, acquired the Miss Universe Organization for $20 million, marking the first time the Miss Universe Organization will be owned by a woman.

During the announcement, JKN shared its plans for generating additional value based on the natural strength of the Miss Universe brand, including the upcoming debut of MU Lifestyle: a new licensing and merchandising arm of The Miss Universe Organization that will leverage the strength of the Miss Universe brand and JKN's lifestyle portfolio to create a new range of merchandise, as well as entertainment and various business opportunities that reflect the strength of the brand.

Jakapong "Anne" Jakrajutatip, also known as Anne JKN, is the third richest transgender person in the world with an estimated worth of 6.37 billion baht, according to Forbes magazine. She is a graduate of Australia’s Bond University in International Relations. She earned a certificate in Real Estate Development from Chulalongkorn University and has completed the Thai Institute of Directors Association’s Director Accreditation Program (DAP).
